Making Laziness Homeless

It’s the middle of winter in Sydney, Australia at the moment. In the chilly mornings my warm bed feels like a cocoon. Being wrapped in safety and closed off from the world is a glorious place to be.

Since I’ve got my silly project out of my system I’ve had a hard time getting motivated. I was supposed to post this yesterday. I’ve been battling a fog, a heaviness. I’m not sick – just lazy.

When it comes to housework I’ve been doing the bare minimum. It’s school holidays at the moment so there are a few less students walking through the doors than usual. This has only encouraged my laziness.

‘Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.’ Proverbs 10:4

Laziness is like an old friend from highschool that has never really grown up. He comes over uninvited but after a while I’m used to and even grown accustomed to his bad habits and if I’m not careful he’s practically moved in.

So my mission at the moment is to not let laziness get too comfortable around me. Sure I can sit down and watch a bit of tv – but not all day. I know I’ll pay for it if I don’t kick laziness out.

So I remember my goals. What can I do today to help achieve my goals? What is something fun and creative I can do today? It’s a conscious thought process for me. I’m not a naturally motivated person. I have to be my own cheerleader. It’s not always easy though. I’m in the process of changing my mindset.

Yesterday I did let laziness get too comfortable but I’m kicking him out today. Life is is too short to waste watching B grade movies and 10 YouTube vlogs in a day. Time to get out of that very warm and comfortable cocoon for the sake of my creativity and future.

Have a productive week.
