I Felt Like Quitting

Ok I’ll be honest. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve wanted to give up on this blog. The official reason I didn’t post anything last week was that I was sick – which is true. However the unofficial reason was that I just didn’t want to post anything. I think I’ve worked out the reason why.

The original purpose for this blog was to encourage people on the autism spectrum by writing about my own experiences. This was great back in 2011 through to 2014 because I wasn’t posting every week.

Once I switched to weekly it was great for the first couple of months but now halfway through the year I’ve grown pretty tired of talking about myself. Yes aspies are awesome – I’m proud to be an aspie but I feel like I need a Kanye West sized ego to keep enthusiastically writing about myself and my life.

This is why I started introducing more video content to spice things up a little. The problem is I’ve deviated a little too far from the original subject matter so my views plummeted which was discouraging but the more I think about it the more it makes sense.

So this is where you come in. I’ve posted multiple times on my facebook page that people can suggest ideas for blog posts. I want to help parents of aspie kids and show them that it is very possible that their child can grow up to be successful and make a contribution to their community. I want to help aspie teens who may feel isolated or frustrated.

So please if there is an aspie issue that you would like me to address please feel free to comment on this post or you can send me a private message on my fb page.

I will still deviate a little with random videos or maybe blog about something unrelated because the word ‘art’ is also in the title of this blog. Creativity is the best therapy. Plus – well this is my blog and I can post whatever I want. If there is any confusion as to what ‘Art and Aspergers’ is all about please check out the recently updated About page.

I’m also on Instagram too 🙂

Come at me with suggestions! I’m all ears.

Kate 🙂

Perhaps it is okay to blog about what you like – I believe it is. If you are tired of enthusing solely about aspergers you will surely have something interesting to say about the other topics you enjoy. I am finding that although I am new to this blogging and did set up to talk about autism and aspergers I naturally have to talk about art! I can’t help it! Autistic voices are also important to hear – and to know they are autistic, I feel. good luck with the topics and I hope your views continue enough to make you feel it’s with it. I will be watching and I like a varied content 🙂

    • Thankyou! I needed to hear that. Yes I totally agree. My life is not one dimensional so why should my blog? I think it’s more a matter of getting my other content that is not strictly aspie related to the right audience.
