The Extraordinary in the Ordinary

The rain has cooled the dry ground

The cicadas sing a happy song

It has no rhythm yet it is hypnotising

The wind picks up and the trees applaud

They can dance again for a time

Sway to and fro under the clouds

Dogs and birds are heard in the distance

Children laugh and cry

Cars rumble impatiently

I feel the cool of the evening breeze

The smell of cooked meat fills the air

Another day has rushed by

There are wonders to find

Right here in my own backyard

The extraordinary in the ordinary
